Another Wind Farm Proposed for Mynydd Maen. (That makes 3 wind farms, total 21 turbines!)

Pennant-Walters has registered with PEDW an interest in building yet another wind farm on the mountain between Cwmbran, Abercarn and Newbridge, in addition to their Trecelyn proposals.

The site of the proposed website is bordered in red within the black ellipse. CLICK TO ENLARGE

The Rhyswg wind farm, with 4 turbines 180m tip height is to be built on Cefn Rhyswg on land belonging to  Rhyswg-ganol and Rhyswg-fawr farms. At least one of these farms has been sold recently.

Access to these farms is normally up a forest lane from Abercarn but the route for construction vehicles will, like the other two wind farms, be up Pantside, then Old Pant Road and Abercarn Mountain Road onto the common. From there the vehicles will follow the winding maintenance tracks built by RES for Mynydd Maen Wind Farm  to their own new track,  going downhill south west over the common until it reaches the farm land that is the wind farm site. The horrendous disruption caused along the access route to the other two wind farms will be continued over a longer period.

No mention yet is made of this windfarm on The Pennant Walters website, this is a pre submission enquiry; however there are documents on the PEDW website.

The PEDW Case Number is  DNS CAS-02114-J9X4S6     To see documents on PEDW site click here and follow link.

The planning application is for the construction and operation of up to 4 wind turbines up to 180m in height to blade tip together with associated infrastructure.

Yellow means 1 to 2 turbines visible, green means 3 to 4 turbines visible. CLICK TO ENLARGE

The 4 massive turbines will be visible at close quarters and heard from Twmbarlwm and much of Cwmcarn Forest Drive; but more importantly from Llanfach, Jamesville, Cwmcarn and Abercarn.

“Yet another threat to the local environment and the wellbeing of those living close to Mynydd Maen. Please join our campaign NOW”

We are now opposing all three windfarms as a single, giant, interconnected energy farm. The developers are clearly working together to share access routes and energy distribution infrastructure. We need your help more than ever. Please donate to help us, if you can.
